Lavigne's Canvas Co. builds custom bimini tops, camper and convertible tops, and full boat and pontoon enclosures in its shop at 102 Booth Rd in North Bay, Ontario. A bimini top gives you shade, a camper top closes in the cockpit, and a full enclosure with clear vinyl windows turns the boat into a room you can use from the May long weekend through Thanksgiving. Every top is measured on your boat with a Prodim Proliner, cut on a CNC table and sewn from marine fabric like Sunbrella. Tops are quoted per boat, and a full pontoon enclosure starts at $6,000.
From a simple bimini on a fishing boat to a full enclosure on a 25-foot pontoon, every top is made for one boat and the way you use it.

Closes in the whole cockpit from the windshield back, with zip-out windows and side curtains, so the boat stays dry overnight and in a rain shower.

Full enclosures for bowriders and cruisers that seal to the windshield and hull, with clear panels on every side so you keep the view.
A top plus full side and back curtains that turn the deck into a screened room for bugs, wind and cool evenings on the lake.

Camper and travel tops for Lunds, Princecrafts, Starcrafts and Trackers that keep you fishing in spring and fall weather.

Curtains and drop panels that hang from a T-top or hardtop and wrap the helm, so a centre console or walkaround can be closed in fast.
Think about when you're on the water. If it's sunny July afternoons, a bimini does the job. If it's May fishing trips and September evenings, you'll want more of the boat closed in.

On a Northern Ontario lake, an enclosure is what lets you start your season in May and finish it at Thanksgiving, instead of waiting for July and packing it in after Labour Day. Pontoon owners use them as a screened room for bugs; anglers use them to stay dry on cold mornings. Pair the top with a matching custom boat cover in the same fabric, or add it to a full pontoon restoration.
A top that flaps, fogs up or takes twenty minutes to put on doesn't get used. These are the details that make one you'll actually put up.

Optically clear marine vinyl, including StrataGlass, stitched in with binding so you can see the lake, not a blur.

Panels roll up or zip out on warm days and go back in when the wind turns, without taking the whole enclosure down.

Tops are cut for the frame on your boat, including wake towers, and new frames can be supplied when the old one is done.

Clean seams and straps on the underside, because that's the side you look at all day.
Every pattern comes off the boat with the Proliner digital measuring system and is cut on the CNC table, so zippers line up, panels meet the windshield cleanly and the top stays tight when you're running. The pattern is saved, so a torn panel or a cloudy window can be remade later without measuring again.
Five steps, measured, cut and sewn by the same crew in North Bay.
Tell the shop the make, length and what you want: shade, a camper top or a full enclosure. You'll get a ballpark before anything is measured.
The boat comes to 102 Booth Rd, or is measured on site in the service area. The Proliner maps the frame, windshield and rails to the millimetre.
Choose the canvas colour, window type, doors, roll-ups and zippers. You get a written quote for your boat.
Panels are cut on the CNC table and sewn in North Bay. Windows are stitched in, and the zippers and snaps are set to your boat.
The top is fitted and adjusted before it goes home. Your pattern stays on file for repairs, new windows or a matching cover.

“The crew at Lavigne's came together on a small but uniquely challenging project and produced the perfect Bimini frame, top and weather panels that really put this endeavor above any of its predecessors. Their attention to detail combined with quality material transform this ordinary sandbox into a modern mini yacht. Thank you so much for squeezing this into your incredibly busy schedules and surpassing all expectations.”
“These guys are fantastic. They just finished a custom travel cover for my boat and I couldn’t be happier. I am happy with the price given it is a premium product. What I really appreciated was the service, the team from the office to the shop was fantastic to deal with, was done on time and were very accommodating to exactly what I wanted. Will be back with another project no question. Highly recommended”
“Amazing quality and amazing service! The canvas turned out better than I could’ve imagined. You can tell they put a lot of care into their work. Highly recommend Lavigne’s Canvas!”
“Great craftsmanship and excellent service. Drove from Sudbury because I knew it was going to be done right.”
“Had a complete cover replaced on my four Winns bow rider. Pat Junior and Pat Senior were amazing to deal with and absolute gentlemen. They stayed within their quote, upgraded a few items and increased the headroom with the top on the boat. When I arrived to pick up the boat the pride and quality in their workmanship is obvious. I could not be happier with the final product and would recommend this company to anyone that asks.”
“I had Lavignes canvas make me a snap on boat cover for a 16’ side console boat. Pat was very professional and happily took the time to answer my many questions, over various inquiries. I came from Sudbury after the local shop started getting annoyed after I’d asked just a few questions, and I’m happy I did. The final product is great and so was the customer service. I highly recommend them.”
“We needed a top for our pontoon boat. I called 5 shops. Lavignes was the only shop who answered the phone and easily gave me a rough estimate without seeing the boat that was bang on! They stayed on time, on budget, did a beautiful job and we’re great to work with.”
“We are thrilled with our new pontoon boat enclosure and seat covers! From beginning to end our experience was amazing! Kristy was so helpful suggesting colours, and the workmanship on the seats and enclosure is first rate—not to mention how quick they completed our project!”
“We recently chose Lavigne's Canvas to make new covers for our 2011 Larson fish & ski boat. They did an amazing job with the covers! The level of service, friendliness, and communication was unmatched from the time we scheduled our appointment to the time the work was completed.”
“My Tracker boat cover was a mess after winter snow damage, plus several wear spots and holes. The service was performed great, matching existing canvas colour. Had it fixed very fast with quality work. Saved me $800 for a new cover!”
“In 2022 I had a new boat camper top and new woven vinyl rug installed in my 2005 Doral bow rider. The quality of the workmanship is excellent and this spring the flooring and top still look new.”
Cloudy windows, a split zipper, a torn seam or a panel that blew out in a storm can usually be fixed without replacing the whole top. Bring it in and the shop will tell you straight whether to repair or replace.
Have it on the boat for the first long weekend and pay for it monthly.

Built in North Bay for boats across Northern Ontario cottage country. Boats are measured at the shop or on site.
It depends on the boat, the style and the windows. A bimini top costs the least, a camper top more, and a full enclosure the most because of the clear vinyl and zippers involved. As a guide, a full pontoon enclosure at Lavigne's Canvas Co. starts at $6,000. Every top is quoted per boat after it's measured. Call 705-410-6872 for a ballpark.
A bimini top is open-sided shade. A camper top covers the cockpit from the windshield back, with side curtains so you can close it in. A full enclosure wraps the boat on every side with clear vinyl windows, so you can use it in wind, rain and bugs. Pontoon enclosures work the same way over the deck.
Fall and winter. Tops and enclosures get busy once the ice is off the lakes, so ordering in the off-season gives you the best chance of having it on the boat for the May long weekend. The boat can be measured on its trailer before it goes into storage.
Usually, yes. If the frame is straight and solid, the new canvas is cut to fit it. If it's bent, corroded or the wrong height, the shop can supply a new frame so the top sits right and gives you the headroom you want.
Often, yes. If the canvas is still strong, cloudy or cracked windows can be cut out and replaced with new clear vinyl, and broken zippers can be swapped. If the canvas is worn out too, you'll be told it's time for a new enclosure.
Send the basics and you'll hear back with next steps and a ballpark, usually the same business day. Photos of the boat and its current frame help: email them to info@lavignescanvas.ca.
