UTV & side-by-side cabs
Full cabs, doors and rear panels with clear windows for Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am and CFMoto machines, built for winter on tracks.
Lavigne's Canvas Co. does industrial and custom sewing in its shop at 102 Booth Rd in North Bay, Ontario. That means UTV and side-by-side cabs, doors and soft tops, snowmobile and sled enclosures, trailer and equipment covers, curtain walls, custom tarps and one-off projects other shops turn away. Every piece is patterned to the machine or space it's for, cut on a CNC table and sewn on industrial machines from marine vinyl, canvas and clear vinyl made to live outside in Northern Ontario. Bring the machine in or send photos and measurements, and each job is quoted before work starts.
The same machines and crew that build boat tops make cabs, covers and curtains for just about anything that lives outside in Northern Ontario.

Full cabs, doors and rear panels with clear windows for Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am and CFMoto machines, built for winter on tracks.

Fitted soft tops for side-by-sides and other machines, cut around the roll cage and pulled tight so they don't flap.

Wind and snow enclosures for utility sleds and trail machines, with clear vinyl so you can see where you're going.

Heavy vinyl covers for utility trailers, machines and equipment, made to the exact shape so they stay on in the wind.

Roll-up and tie-back curtain walls for carports, garages and work areas, plus custom tarps with grommets where you need them.

A weather enclosure for a mobility scooter, a pet shelter, a custom bag. If it can be sewn, ask.
A universal cover fits a lot of machines a little bit. A cab or cover made for yours fits all of it, which is why it stays on in the wind and lasts longer.

Side-by-sides are a good example. Racks, plows, tracks and light bars change the shape of every machine, and a kit cab can't account for them. A custom cab is patterned around what's actually on yours, with doors and windows where you need them. Already have canvas that just needs fixing? See canvas repair.
Outdoor canvas takes a beating from UV, snow and wind. The materials and stitching have to be up to it.

Marine vinyl, mesh, webbing and canvas sewn with outdoor-rated thread on industrial machines.

Clear windows stitched in with binding so you can see out of a cab or enclosure in any weather.

Shelter covers and large panels that need a big cutting table and a crew that does this every day.

Covers are patterned to the shape of the machine, so they shed water and don't catch the wind.
Custom pieces can be patterned with the Proliner digital measuring system and cut on the CNC table, so a cab or cover fits the machine exactly and can be cut again from the same file if it's ever damaged.
Five steps, done in the North Bay shop.
Tell the shop what you need and send photos of the machine, trailer or space. Many machines can be measured at 102 Booth Rd.
The shop measures the piece, copies an existing cover or patterns it with the Proliner so the fit is exact.
Choose vinyl or canvas colour, clear windows, zippers, doors and hardware. You get a quote before work starts.
Panels are cut on the CNC table and sewn on industrial machines in North Bay, never sent out.
The piece is fitted to the machine where possible. Your pattern stays on file for a replacement later.

“The crew at Lavigne's came together on a small but uniquely challenging project and produced the perfect Bimini frame, top and weather panels that really put this endeavor above any of its predecessors. Their attention to detail combined with quality material transform this ordinary sandbox into a modern mini yacht. Thank you so much for squeezing this into your incredibly busy schedules and surpassing all expectations.”
“These guys are fantastic. They just finished a custom travel cover for my boat and I couldn’t be happier. I am happy with the price given it is a premium product. What I really appreciated was the service, the team from the office to the shop was fantastic to deal with, was done on time and were very accommodating to exactly what I wanted. Will be back with another project no question. Highly recommended”
“Amazing quality and amazing service! The canvas turned out better than I could’ve imagined. You can tell they put a lot of care into their work. Highly recommend Lavigne’s Canvas!”
“Great craftsmanship and excellent service. Drove from Sudbury because I knew it was going to be done right.”
“Had a complete cover replaced on my four Winns bow rider. Pat Junior and Pat Senior were amazing to deal with and absolute gentlemen. They stayed within their quote, upgraded a few items and increased the headroom with the top on the boat. When I arrived to pick up the boat the pride and quality in their workmanship is obvious. I could not be happier with the final product and would recommend this company to anyone that asks.”
“I had Lavignes canvas make me a snap on boat cover for a 16’ side console boat. Pat was very professional and happily took the time to answer my many questions, over various inquiries. I came from Sudbury after the local shop started getting annoyed after I’d asked just a few questions, and I’m happy I did. The final product is great and so was the customer service. I highly recommend them.”
“We needed a top for our pontoon boat. I called 5 shops. Lavignes was the only shop who answered the phone and easily gave me a rough estimate without seeing the boat that was bang on! They stayed on time, on budget, did a beautiful job and we’re great to work with.”
“We are thrilled with our new pontoon boat enclosure and seat covers! From beginning to end our experience was amazing! Kristy was so helpful suggesting colours, and the workmanship on the seats and enclosure is first rate—not to mention how quick they completed our project!”
“We recently chose Lavigne's Canvas to make new covers for our 2011 Larson fish & ski boat. They did an amazing job with the covers! The level of service, friendliness, and communication was unmatched from the time we scheduled our appointment to the time the work was completed.”
“My Tracker boat cover was a mess after winter snow damage, plus several wear spots and holes. The service was performed great, matching existing canvas colour. Had it fixed very fast with quality work. Saved me $800 for a new cover!”
“In 2022 I had a new boat camper top and new woven vinyl rug installed in my 2005 Doral bow rider. The quality of the workmanship is excellent and this spring the flooring and top still look new.”

It depends on the size of the piece, the materials and how many windows, doors and zippers it needs. A small cover costs far less than a full UTV cab. Lavigne's Canvas Co. quotes every custom job before work starts. Call 705-410-6872 or send photos for a ballpark.
Yes. Full cabs, doors, rear panels and soft tops are made for side-by-sides from Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am, CFMoto and others, including machines running tracks in the winter.
Yes. Trailers, machines, equipment, carports, mobility scooters and pet shelters have all come through the shop. If it lives outside and needs protection, it can probably be covered.
Usually. If the old piece fit well, it can be used as the pattern for a new one in fresh materials. If it never fit right, the shop will measure and pattern it from scratch instead.
It helps for cabs and fitted covers, because the piece is measured and fitted on the machine. For curtain walls, tarps and large covers, measurements and photos are often enough to start.
Send the basics and you'll hear back with next steps and a ballpark, usually the same business day. Photos of the machine or space help most: email them to info@lavignescanvas.ca.
