Winter & storage covers
Built to carry snow through a Northern Ontario winter, with support poles, vents and tie-downs so water runs off instead of pooling and stretching the fabric.
Lavigne's Canvas Co. makes custom boat covers in its shop at 102 Booth Rd in North Bay, Ontario: winter and storage covers, mooring covers, travel covers, snap-on bow and cockpit covers, and pontoon covers. Each cover is measured on your boat with a Prodim Proliner digital system, cut on a CNC table and sewn by hand, so it follows the lines of your hull instead of a size chart. That tight fit is what sheds rain and snow and stops the flapping that wears a cover out. Covers are quoted per boat, your pattern stays on file, and select fabrics carry a 10-year warranty.
Bowriders, fishing boats, ski boats, cruisers, pontoons and classic wooden boats. Tell us how the boat is stored and used, and we'll build the right cover for it.

Built to carry snow through a Northern Ontario winter, with support poles, vents and tie-downs so water runs off instead of pooling and stretching the fabric.

Snaps to the hull while the boat sits at the dock or on a lift. Keeps rain, pollen, leaves and birds out of the cockpit between trips.

Strapped and snapped down tight enough to stay put on the highway, so you can tow to the lake without the cover beating itself apart.

Full pontoon covers shaped over the fencing, seats and bimini, with enough pitch to shed water off a big flat deck.

Snap-on bow and cockpit covers for when you only need part of the boat covered, cut around windshields, cleats and nav lights.

Cedar strips, antique runabouts and one-off hulls that no catalogue cover will ever fit. If it floats, it can be templated.
A boat in North Bay spends five months under snow and the rest of the year in hard sun. A cover that sags, pools water or flaps on the trailer wears out fast. These are the details that stop that.

Sewn-in vents let moisture escape, so you don't uncover a boat full of mildew in May.

Pole pockets and strap-downs pitch the cover so snow and rain slide off instead of sitting on the fabric.

Snaps, twist locks and shock cord are set where your boat needs them, not where a generic pattern guessed.

Breathable, water-repellent marine canvas such as Sunbrella that sheds water and holds its colour in the sun.
Both keep snow off the boat over the winter. Only one of them is still around in the spring.
Most of the covers that come through the shop are made from the same Proliner pattern and CNC cutting table used on our pontoon interiors and tops. That means the cover is drawn from your actual boat, so it clears the windshield, wraps the bow rail and pulls tight around the transom. Need a top as well? A matching bimini top or enclosure can be cut in the same fabric, and if the whole boat is due, the cover can be part of a pontoon restoration.
Five steps, all done by the same crew in the same North Bay shop.
Tell the shop your boat's make, length and how it's stored. You'll get an idea of price and the right style of cover before anything is measured.
Bring the boat to 102 Booth Rd on its trailer, or have it measured on site in the service area. The Proliner records every curve, cleat and windshield.
Choose the colour, fabric and extras: vents, support poles, zippered access, tie-downs or a snap-on fit. You get a written quote.
The pattern is cut on the CNC table and sewn in North Bay. Nothing is sent out and nothing comes from a size chart.
The cover is fitted to your boat before it leaves. Your pattern stays on file, so a replacement or a matching top is easy later.

“The crew at Lavigne's came together on a small but uniquely challenging project and produced the perfect Bimini frame, top and weather panels that really put this endeavor above any of its predecessors. Their attention to detail combined with quality material transform this ordinary sandbox into a modern mini yacht. Thank you so much for squeezing this into your incredibly busy schedules and surpassing all expectations.”
“These guys are fantastic. They just finished a custom travel cover for my boat and I couldn’t be happier. I am happy with the price given it is a premium product. What I really appreciated was the service, the team from the office to the shop was fantastic to deal with, was done on time and were very accommodating to exactly what I wanted. Will be back with another project no question. Highly recommended”
“Amazing quality and amazing service! The canvas turned out better than I could’ve imagined. You can tell they put a lot of care into their work. Highly recommend Lavigne’s Canvas!”
“Great craftsmanship and excellent service. Drove from Sudbury because I knew it was going to be done right.”
“Had a complete cover replaced on my four Winns bow rider. Pat Junior and Pat Senior were amazing to deal with and absolute gentlemen. They stayed within their quote, upgraded a few items and increased the headroom with the top on the boat. When I arrived to pick up the boat the pride and quality in their workmanship is obvious. I could not be happier with the final product and would recommend this company to anyone that asks.”
“I had Lavignes canvas make me a snap on boat cover for a 16’ side console boat. Pat was very professional and happily took the time to answer my many questions, over various inquiries. I came from Sudbury after the local shop started getting annoyed after I’d asked just a few questions, and I’m happy I did. The final product is great and so was the customer service. I highly recommend them.”
“We needed a top for our pontoon boat. I called 5 shops. Lavignes was the only shop who answered the phone and easily gave me a rough estimate without seeing the boat that was bang on! They stayed on time, on budget, did a beautiful job and we’re great to work with.”
“We are thrilled with our new pontoon boat enclosure and seat covers! From beginning to end our experience was amazing! Kristy was so helpful suggesting colours, and the workmanship on the seats and enclosure is first rate—not to mention how quick they completed our project!”
“We recently chose Lavigne's Canvas to make new covers for our 2011 Larson fish & ski boat. They did an amazing job with the covers! The level of service, friendliness, and communication was unmatched from the time we scheduled our appointment to the time the work was completed.”
“My Tracker boat cover was a mess after winter snow damage, plus several wear spots and holes. The service was performed great, matching existing canvas colour. Had it fixed very fast with quality work. Saved me $800 for a new cover!”
“In 2022 I had a new boat camper top and new woven vinyl rug installed in my 2005 Doral bow rider. The quality of the workmanship is excellent and this spring the flooring and top still look new.”
Torn after a heavy snow load, a broken zipper, snaps pulled out? Bring it in. The shop patches, re-stitches and replaces hardware, and matches your canvas colour where it can. If a repair won't last, you'll be told straight.
Get the cover made before the snow and pay for it over time.

Covers are made in North Bay for boats from across Northern Ontario cottage country. Boats can be measured at the shop or on site.
There's no off-the-shelf price because every cover is made for one boat. The size of the boat, the type of cover, the fabric and extras like support poles, vents or zippered access all change the price. Lavigne's measures the boat with a Proliner and quotes from those measurements. Call 705-410-6872 or use the quote form and you'll get a ballpark first.
Not usually. The busiest time for winter covers is September and October, so the earlier you call the better, but a boat that's already out of the water can still be measured on its trailer. If the cover can't be ready before the snow, the shop will tell you up front so you can plan for this winter.
Shrink wrap is plastic that gets cut off and thrown away every spring, so you pay for it again every fall. A custom cover goes back on in minutes each season, breathes so moisture can escape, and can double as a mooring or travel cover in the summer. Over a few seasons, a custom cover usually works out to the better deal.
You can bring it to 102 Booth Rd in North Bay on its trailer, or the boat can be measured on site within the service area. Travel to Temiskaming Shores and Muskoka is quoted with the job. Once the pattern is taken, the boat doesn't need to stay at the shop while the cover is made.
It depends on the fabric, how the boat is stored and how the cover is cared for. A cover that fits tight lasts longer because it isn't flapping in the wind or holding water. Select fabrics carry a 10-year warranty, and because your pattern is on file, a worn cover can be remade exactly or repaired in the shop.
Send the basics and you'll hear back with next steps and a ballpark, usually the same business day. A couple of photos of the boat help: email them to info@lavignescanvas.ca.
