SeaDek cockpit flooring
Soft, grippy foam from the bow to the transom that stays comfortable on bare feet and doesn't soak up water like carpet.
Lavigne's Canvas Co. installs SeaDek, woven vinyl and marine carpet flooring in its shop at 102 Booth Rd in North Bay, Ontario. SeaDek is a soft, non-skid closed-cell foam for cockpits, swim platforms, casting decks and hatches; woven vinyl is the go-to for pontoon decks; and marine carpet still suits many fishing boats. Every floor is templated to your boat and cut to fit around hatches, cleats and seat bases, with custom logos, boat names and fish rulers if you want them. Flooring is quoted per boat and can be done alone or with new seating.
Ski boats, bowriders, cruisers, fishing boats and pontoons. Do the whole floor, or just the swim platform and helm pad.

Soft, grippy foam from the bow to the transom that stays comfortable on bare feet and doesn't soak up water like carpet.

Non-skid pads for the spot everyone climbs on and off, with the boat's name or logo cut right in.

Your boat's name, your family name, a crest or a team logo, worked into the foam in the colours you choose.

Every hatch lid, casting deck and step pad cut as its own piece, so hatches still open and the floor lines up when they're closed.

Woven vinyl in teak-look and grey tones that cleans with a hose and won't hold water or mildew like old pontoon carpet.

Fresh marine carpet for fishing boats and aluminum hulls where carpet is still the right call, with hatches recovered to match.
All three are made for boats. The right one depends on the hull, how wet the floor gets and how you use the boat.

Old marine carpet is often the first thing to go on a used boat: it holds water, smells musty and stains no matter how much you scrub. Swapping it for SeaDek or woven vinyl is one of the quickest ways to make a boat feel newer. Floors are often done at the same time as new seat upholstery, or as part of a full pontoon restoration.
A good floor fits like it came from the factory. A great one looks like nobody else's.

Crests, logos and lettering are cut into the surface so they stay crisp and never peel off like a decal.

Pieces are templated on the boat and cut to shape, with cut-outs for cup holders, drains and seat bases.

Contrasting edges and inlays outline hatches and panels and give the floor a finished look.

Tough woven vinyl, such as Infinity, that stands up to sun, wet feet and years of winter storage.
Floors are templated on the boat, the same way the shop uses the Proliner digital measuring system for canvas and seats. Every edge follows your deck instead of a generic kit, and the pattern is kept so a damaged piece can be replaced later.
Five steps, done in the North Bay shop.
Tell the shop the boat, the floor you have now and what you're thinking: SeaDek, woven vinyl or carpet.
Choose the top and border colours, the texture, and any logos, names, fish rulers or patterns.
The deck is measured and templated so every piece fits around hatches, cleats, drains and seat bases.
Each panel is cut to shape, with logos and borders added, before anything goes on the boat.
Old carpet comes up, the surface is cleaned and prepped, and the new floor goes down piece by piece.

“The crew at Lavigne's came together on a small but uniquely challenging project and produced the perfect Bimini frame, top and weather panels that really put this endeavor above any of its predecessors. Their attention to detail combined with quality material transform this ordinary sandbox into a modern mini yacht. Thank you so much for squeezing this into your incredibly busy schedules and surpassing all expectations.”
“These guys are fantastic. They just finished a custom travel cover for my boat and I couldn’t be happier. I am happy with the price given it is a premium product. What I really appreciated was the service, the team from the office to the shop was fantastic to deal with, was done on time and were very accommodating to exactly what I wanted. Will be back with another project no question. Highly recommended”
“Amazing quality and amazing service! The canvas turned out better than I could’ve imagined. You can tell they put a lot of care into their work. Highly recommend Lavigne’s Canvas!”
“Great craftsmanship and excellent service. Drove from Sudbury because I knew it was going to be done right.”
“Had a complete cover replaced on my four Winns bow rider. Pat Junior and Pat Senior were amazing to deal with and absolute gentlemen. They stayed within their quote, upgraded a few items and increased the headroom with the top on the boat. When I arrived to pick up the boat the pride and quality in their workmanship is obvious. I could not be happier with the final product and would recommend this company to anyone that asks.”
“I had Lavignes canvas make me a snap on boat cover for a 16’ side console boat. Pat was very professional and happily took the time to answer my many questions, over various inquiries. I came from Sudbury after the local shop started getting annoyed after I’d asked just a few questions, and I’m happy I did. The final product is great and so was the customer service. I highly recommend them.”
“We needed a top for our pontoon boat. I called 5 shops. Lavignes was the only shop who answered the phone and easily gave me a rough estimate without seeing the boat that was bang on! They stayed on time, on budget, did a beautiful job and we’re great to work with.”
“We are thrilled with our new pontoon boat enclosure and seat covers! From beginning to end our experience was amazing! Kristy was so helpful suggesting colours, and the workmanship on the seats and enclosure is first rate—not to mention how quick they completed our project!”
“We recently chose Lavigne's Canvas to make new covers for our 2011 Larson fish & ski boat. They did an amazing job with the covers! The level of service, friendliness, and communication was unmatched from the time we scheduled our appointment to the time the work was completed.”
“My Tracker boat cover was a mess after winter snow damage, plus several wear spots and holes. The service was performed great, matching existing canvas colour. Had it fixed very fast with quality work. Saved me $800 for a new cover!”
“In 2022 I had a new boat camper top and new woven vinyl rug installed in my 2005 Doral bow rider. The quality of the workmanship is excellent and this spring the flooring and top still look new.”
Flooring, upholstery and canvas are all done under the same roof. Doing the floor and seats in one visit means the colours are picked together and the boat is only out of the water once.
Get the floor done this off-season and spread the cost over monthly payments.

Flooring is installed at the North Bay shop. Boaters trailer in from across Northern Ontario cottage country.
It depends on how much of the boat you're covering, the number of pieces, and extras like logos, two-tone borders or fish rulers. A swim platform pad is a small job; a full cockpit with hatches is a bigger one. Lavigne's Canvas Co. quotes flooring per boat. Call 705-410-6872 or send photos with the quote form for a ballpark.
SeaDek suits fibreglass bowriders, ski boats, swim platforms and casting decks where you want a soft, non-skid surface. Woven vinyl is the usual pick for pontoon decks because it covers large areas, cleans easily and doesn't hold water. Marine carpet is still a good, lower-cost option for many fishing boats. The shop will recommend what suits your boat and how you use it.
No. The old carpet comes up first. SeaDek bonds to a clean, smooth surface, so the deck is cleaned and prepped before the new pieces go down. If anything underneath needs attention, you'll hear about it before the install.
Yes. Boat names, family names, team logos, crests and patterns can be built into SeaDek in contrasting colours, along with fish rulers on casting decks. Send the logo file or a photo and the shop will show you how it will look.
Rinse it with fresh water and clean it with a mild soap and a soft brush. Avoid harsh solvents. Both materials are made for life outside, but a cover or top over the boat when it's not in use helps any floor last longer.
Send the basics and you'll hear back with next steps and a ballpark, usually the same business day. Photos of your current floor and any logo you'd like help: email them to info@lavignescanvas.ca.
